Ravichandran Ashwin has been granted a fresh opportunity to prove his mettle in one-day internationals, a format in which he has faced challenges despite having amassed over 100 games of experience. The seasoned cricketer is eagerly anticipating his return and is determined to make a substantial impact during the upcoming three-match series against Australia.

Regarding his preparations, Ashwin revealed, “I have actively participated in a couple of club games to ensure I am well-prepared. I was advised to stay match-fit in case an opportunity arose in the fifty-over format. It’s important to recognize that spin alone may not suffice in this format anymore; it’s imperative to employ varied strategies to trouble batsmen.” He shared these insights in an interview with BCCI.tv.

Expressing his deep-rooted connection with Indian cricket, Ashwin stated, “Indian cricket holds a special place in my heart, and I am wholeheartedly looking forward to playing a pivotal role for the team.”

Ashwin’s return to the ODI side came about following an injury to Axar Patel during the Asia Cup 2023. Despite being a consistent presence in the Test squad, he has had limited opportunities in white-ball cricket, and he is determined to make the most of this chance to contribute to the team’s success.
