The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is eager to retain Rahul Dravid as the head coach until the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024, particularly in light of Ashish Nehra’s rejection of the position. Despite the Gujarat Titans coach declining, the BCCI is resolute in having Dravid lead the team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Dravid’s coaching contract concluded after the ICC World Cup in 2023, prompting the BCCI to offer him a new contract. The T20 World Cup is set to be held in the West Indies and the USA from June next year.

Having secured the Indian Premier League title in 2022 and finishing as runners-up in 2023, the coaching role for the Gujarat Titans became highly sought after. The BCCI had approached Nehra following India’s loss to Australia in the World Cup final, but the former player declined the offer.

According to reports, India’s captain Rohit Sharma and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar advocate for Dravid’s continuation as the coach until the next T20 World Cup, emphasizing the importance of maintaining leadership continuity.
