Samit Dravid, the eldest son of Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India and a cricketing legend, has earned a place in the 15-member Karnataka squad for the highly-anticipated Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2023. This under-19 cricket tournament is set to take place in Hyderabad from October 12th to October 20th.

Remarkably, Samit Dravid will be celebrating his 18th birthday just before this prestigious domestic event. While he has previously demonstrated his skills in under-14 competitions, this will be his first appearance in the under-19 age group.

Interestingly, cricket talent seems to be a family tradition in the Dravid household, as Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay Dravid, also excels on the cricket pitch. Anvay is currently the captain of the Karnataka Under-14 team, following in the footsteps of his accomplished father.

Rahul Dravid, a cricketing icon who represented Karnataka at the senior level, has an illustrious cricketing career that includes appearances in the under-15, under-17, and under-19 age categories. His debut in the Ranji Trophy for the state dates back to the 1991-92 season.

However, due to his coaching commitments with Team India during the ongoing home One Day International (ODI) series against Australia, it’s likely that Rahul Dravid will be unable to witness his elder son’s performance in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Nevertheless, fans are eagerly awaiting Samit Dravid’s debut on the cricket field as he wields his bat in the name of Karnataka.
