Ex-Indian opener, Robin Uthappa, is championing the addition of Tilak Varma to the national cricket team, seeing him as a potential fix for India’s middle-order woes.

The Indian team’s mid-lineup has faced scrutiny recently, particularly with key players like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer striving for full recovery before the World Cup. Yet, the rise of Varma in the cricket scene seems like a beacon of hope to address this issue.

Speaking on JioCinema, Uthappa remarked, “Tilak is definitely on the minds of the selectors. He’s displayed immense dedication and seems poised for a long innings with the national side.”

The cricketing world is keenly anticipating Varma’s ODI debut, especially post his commendable show in the recent T20I series versus the West Indies. Garnering 173 runs in his initial series, he’s proved his mettle under challenging conditions.

Uthappa observed, “Tilak’s maturity, particularly when the team is under pressure, is noteworthy. He has shown he can rise to the occasion.”
