In preparation for IPL 2023, Shivam Dube embarked on an intensive training regimen, committing three to four months to daily practice sessions, where he tirelessly faced between 100 to 150 deliveries each day. His primary objective was to hone his skills against bouncers, a challenge he had encountered in previous seasons.

Dube’s unwavering dedication and hard work paid substantial dividends as he emerged as a pivotal contributor to the triumphant Chennai Super Kings’ campaign. Among the franchise’s standout performers, he showcased his batting prowess by amassing an impressive 418 runs from 14 innings, boasting an exceptional strike rate of 158.33.

During a candid conversation on the AakashVani show hosted by JioCinema, Aakash Chopra probed Dube about his progress in handling bouncers.

Dube explained, “Upon returning from the IPL last year, I was advised to focus on this aspect of my game. I vividly remember that the IPL concluded on May 20 last year, and I began my training the very next day. Throughout the off-season, I diligently practiced against the short ball using specialized machines.”

Despite grappling with injuries during the previous season, Dube remained unwavering in his pursuit of improvement.

He added, “Even though injuries posed challenges last year, I remained determined to work on this facet of my game, recognizing that other aspects were progressing well. I committed myself to daily practice, facing 100 to 150 deliveries for an extended period of three to four months. It was consistent and dedicated practice that ultimately translated into positive results.”
