Shoaib Akhtar has voiced strong criticism against the current cricket regulations, characterizing today’s cricket as deceptive due to the utilization of two balls and the restriction of fielders outside the 30-yard circle.

“Today’s cricket is deceptive. Batsmen are amassing 30,000 runs with the introduction of two new balls. I hold deep respect for Sachin Tendulkar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, and Jacques Kallis because they scored runs under the traditional format with a single ball in 50 overs. Now, with the introduction of two balls, the dynamics have changed. I support anyone who is scoring runs, but the true challenge lies with six fielders outside the 30-yard circle,” he expressed.

Shoaib Akhtar believes that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has heavily skewed the game in favor of batsmen, treating bowlers as mere bowling machines.

Adding to the critique, former Indian player Gautam Gambhir also voiced dissatisfaction with the authorities, particularly their bias towards batsmen. This criticism follows instances where bowlers faced a barrage of hits in multiple games during the ICC World Cup 2023.
