Hardik Pandya will be absent from the upcoming match against England in the ICC World Cup 2023. His absence is expected to extend to the game against Sri Lanka as well, with plans for his return in the last two contests against South Africa and the Netherlands.

As reported by the Indian Express, Pandya has not yet commenced his bowling practice at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He sustained an injury during a World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune. The management is taking a cautious approach, giving him the necessary time to recover, and there is an anticipation of his rejoining the Men in Blue in Kolkata or Mumbai.

Pandya had previously missed the game against New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah issued an official statement regarding Pandya’s injury, stating, “Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The all-rounder underwent scans and has been advised to rest. He will remain under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.”
