Rahul Dravid has concluded his tenure as the head coach of Team India and has expressed his reluctance to continue in the same capacity. Speculations are emerging about Dravid considering a return to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, while VVS Laxman is being touted as his potential successor as the new head of Team India.

Recent reports suggest another possibility for Dravid, with indications that he might join one of the IPL franchises ahead of the upcoming season. According to journalist Abhishek Tripathi, if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not offer him a new contract, Dravid could potentially serve as the mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants. This comes as Gautam Gambhir, the team’s previous mentor, has left to rejoin the Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024.

While the Rajasthan Royals are also contemplating the return of their former player, Dravid, it is reported that the offer from Lucknow is more financially enticing.

Dravid’s coaching tenure witnessed India falling short in ICC tournaments, with defeats to England in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and Australia clinching victory over the subcontinent team in the final of the World Test Championship. Adding to the disappointments, Australia also emerged triumphant over India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19.
