In a recent interview with Star Sports, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli stressed the unpredictability of the 2023 World Cup and cautioned against underestimating any team. Kohli’s remarks come in the wake of surprising upsets, such as the Netherlands defeating an in-form South Africa and Afghanistan overcoming defending champions England.

“There is no big or small team in the World Cup. Upsets occur when you begin concentrating solely on the bigger teams,” Kohli explained in his interview with Star Sports ahead of India’s match against Bangladesh.

Discussing the upcoming match against Bangladesh in Pune, Kohli acknowledged the threat posed by Bangladesh’s captain, Shakib Al-Hasan. Kohli described Shakib as an experienced and skillful bowler with exceptional control, particularly effective with the new ball. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to every match and warned against underestimating players like Shakib.

In response, Shakib Al-Hasan expressed his admiration for Kohli’s batting prowess, labeling him as “the best batsman in the modern era.” Shakib revealed his intention to target Kohli’s wicket in the upcoming match.

“Kohli is a special batsman. I consider it lucky that I have dismissed him five times. Of course, getting his wicket will make me very happy,” the all-rounder said.

Both Kohli and Shakib are set to showcase their skills in the upcoming match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

India enters the game with a flawless record in the World Cup, having won all three of their previous matches. In contrast, Bangladesh has played three matches, securing one victory against Afghanistan but facing defeats against New Zealand and England. The stage is set for an exciting clash.
